Insect Shield® is a semi-permanent permethrin treatment that is applied to the finished product to help repel flies, chiggers, midges, ants, mosquitos, ticks, and fleas. This treatment is FDA-approved and is safe against the skin.
The concentration of Insect Shield used in mosquito shelters & head nets remains effective up to 40 wash cycles. The concentration of Insect Shield used in sleeping bag liners remains effective up to 25 wash cycles.
