Frontier Collapsible Pots and Kettles are not designed for frying or sautéing, but that doesn’t mean they’re limited to boiling water for freeze dried food. They’re versatile enough for a wide range of camp meals – just follow a few simple precautions.
Great options for your Frontier Collapsible Pot or Kettle
You can safely cook or heat:
- Pasta
- Rice – Turn off the heat a few minutes before it’s done. The remaining heat will finish the cooking process without risking damage to the pot base.
- Curry – Note that saffron may lightly stain the silicone sidewalls.
- Soup or stews
- Couscous – As with rice, turn off the heat early to prevent overheating.
- Chili – Tomato-based sauces may stain the silicone.
- Spaghetti sauce – Same note on staining.
- Oatmeal or porridge
Avoid cooking the following
Do not use your Frontier Collapsible Pot or Kettle for:
- Frying or sautéing – Cooking oils can reach temperatures high enough to damage the bond between the aluminum base and silicone sidewalls.
- Reheating solid foods – Without water to regulate temperature, the base can overheat and separate from the sidewalls.
