Although they may look similar, the Telos and Ikos are two very different tents, designed for different use cases.
Telos: Lightweight & Backpacking-Focused
The Telos is built for backpacking, bikepacking, and other human-powered adventures. It's not the lightest ultralight tent on the market – it's built to be more livable than many ultralight models that restrict interior space and offer only limited ventilation.
Features that contribute to the light weight of the Telos include:
- 20 denier nylon floor, 2500mm hydrostatic head
- Mesh sidewalls on inner tent for ventilation
- A tapered floorplan
- Telos TR2 fits 2 Large tapered mats
- Telos TR3 fits 2 Regular + 1 Large tapered mat
- Lightweight DAC NFL poleset
- 15 denier nylon rainfly
Ikos: Spacious & Durable
The Ikos is a lightweight tent designed to offer more space and greater durability than the Telos, with an emphasis on creature comforts. It’s heavier than the Telos, but still reasonable for short backpacking trips. If you're camping with children or dogs, the more rugged construction will be a great alternative to flimsy featherweight models.
Features that contribute to comfort of the Ikos include:
- 68 denier polyester floor, 4000mm hydrostatic head
- Mesh sidewalls on inner tent with integrated gear loft
- A rectangular floorplan large enough to fit Large Rectangular mats
- Durable DAC MX poleset
- 68 denier polyester rainfly, rated to 1800mm hydrostatic head
In short,
- Choose the Telos if weight and packability are your top priorities.
- Choose the Ikos if you want extra durability, roominess, and comfort for more relaxed trips.
