The tube supplied with the tent is a repair tube / splint.
If a pole segment were to break, you would slide the tube over the damaged section and tape it into position - this would allow you to continue your trip.
Once you return home, a permanent repair can be made. We keep pole segments as a spare part and are happy to either provide a pole segment as a replacement, or have the poleset returned for repair in our facility in Boulder
